The Barbados Association of Tent Managers (BATMAN) has expressed its support for the stated objectives of the Concerned Entertainment Group as it relates to the issue of music piracy.
Spokesman for BATMAN, Anthony “Black Pawn” Blenman, said the group’s cause had a desirable objective and right now the membership of BATMAN was supporting the cause by not releasing any new music until the present impasse was resolved. Despite this, however, the BATMAN member tents were free to open their tents when they chose to do so.
He stated that the issue was a far-reaching one as it touched a high number of stakeholders and the BATMAN believed it could be resolved with further discussion between the parties. BATMAN further expressed the hope that the dispute would be resolved as quickly as possible.
Meanwhile, in a release, the Concerned Entertainment Group has stated that it is “ready and willing to meet with the Government at the earliest possible opportunity to have the current issue settled”.
The release said that the Concerned Group had sent a letter indicating its willingness to meet with the authorities as requested. Following that, there was verbal communication between the parties and a meeting was tentatively set for yesterday, but the group had heard no further word from the Government.
The group added that if Government was committed to the fight against
piracy there would be no opposition to a meeting between both parties
to bring about a solution to the present situation that would benefit
the entertainment industry and the country as a whole.
