A full day of RallySprint action will be staged at the Vaucluse Raceway this Sunday for the first time since March, with a top-quality field anticipated for round three of the 2004 Vaucluse Raceway Rally-Sprint Cup. Head-to-head racing is slated from 1 p.m. after morning practice at the St Thomas facility.
There’s good news for RallySprint fans, as an extra date has been added to the calendar, replacing the International event lost to the unseasonal rains of mid-May, this now creates a five-round championship – following this weekend’s fixture, the remaining two dates are Sunday, July 11 and Sunday, August 8.

Reigning RallySprint Cup champion Sean Gill in the AutomotiveArt/Courts/Kerridge/Yokohama Simp-son Motors Rally Team Suzuki Ignis is again at the head of the table, with a total of 43 points scored in the first two rounds. Gill’s Simpson Motors team-mate Barry Gale – another former RallySprint Cup champion, in 2001 – has 40 points in his Mitsu-bishi Evo VI, while James Betts in the Hankook, Eyre’s Tyre Repair Toyota Corolla is third on 39 points.

Only seven points cover the next eight drivers, led by Edward Corbin in the Automotive Art/Corbins Garage/Klark-Odio Toyota Corolla SR and another of Gill’s Simpson Motors team-mates, Neil Barnard in his Opel Corsa. Entries will close tomorrow at 6 p.m.
