Soccer clinic golden opportunity for youngsters

Barbados’ budding young footballers will have the opportunity to benefit from special training with the arrival of the Liverpool Coaching Clinic.

The Barbados Children’s Trust in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Youth Affairs and Sports and the National Sports Council (NSC) is hosting its Sixth Annual Soccer Coaching Clinics.

Starting last week and conducted by world class soccer professionals, the clinics coupled with the Bico sponsored Primary school football competition little boots will be kept busy for the time being.

The National Sports Council (NSC) Under-13 football team remain undefeated after three games which form part of the coaching clinic.

NSC Under-13 defeated Professional Soccer School 3-1 at Lester Vaughn on Saturday, Wanderers 2-0 at Barclays on Sunday and was held to a scoreless draw against Paradise at Dover on Tuesday.

The full Liverpool coaching contingent arrived yesterday afternoon and will begin work from today coaching within the primary school football competition.

The Liverpool Boys have been an overnight sensation impressing spectators with their football skills.

Adrian Donovan of the NSC said having the coaches coming year after year is a golden opportunity that cannot be overestimated because of the high quality of coaches and the high demand of the Liverpool personnel.

“Hopefully one of these days one of the Barbadian youngsters might be attached to the Liverpool football academy,” Donovan said.

The Liverpool Boys and the NSC Under-13 squad go head to head today at the National Stadium from 5 p.m.

Both the Liverpool Veterans and the Local Veterans will be looking to get the better of the other when the two face off in today’s feature match at the National Stadium from 6 p.m. Last year the two teams drew 2-2.
