Accordingly please be guided by the social activities planned during the festival. Be warned that games start at 9:00 am in the morning. The after effects of the case of Banks that you drank the night before will not deemed an acceptable excuse for being late. Also trying to keep pace with the ‘’Roosters” could be detrimental to your health. Thursday August 17th, 2006 from 8:00 pm Oistins is a quaint fishing village in the South of the island. Enjoy the fresh catches of the day from the various vendors who ply their trade in this area. The aromatic flavours of grilled, or fried fish in coal pots, is only matched by their sensuous taste. You can quench your thirst in the many “Rum Shops” that are abound in the fish area. Banks beer will certainly be the order of the day and is considered the perfect compliment to a sumptuous fish dinner. Friday August 18th, 2006 from 7:00 pm The newly renovated and re-branded Bert’s Bar on the South Coast promises to be an excellent start to the week-end. Bert will be on hand to host the event. Banks and Pizza specials will be the order of the night. There will be DJ music to keep the toes tapping and waist wining. A local tip is that Bert’s is not only known for their Daiquiri’s. Their wood-fired pizzas is a not very well kept secret in Barbados. Again Banks beer makes an excellent compliment to one of Bert’s excellent Pizzas. Saturday August 19th, 2006 Free Night Sunday August 20th, 2006 at 5:00 pm The official opening, of the 21st Banks Barbados Hockey Festival. The Banks Soundtech Orchestra will be providing the musical prelude on the Pans. There is the usual festive team parade followed by the welcoming speeches. This year we are pleased to announce that the CEO of Banks Holdings Mr. Richard Cozier will make the opening presentation. Also there will be a speech by one of the founders of the festival Mr. Tony Cozier. They will be constantly reminded during their speeches that they are keeping the players from their Ice Cold Banks! This will be followed by an array of Bajan artistes featuring: JABAE with Party Monarch and Road March Champion Barry Chandler, Natahlee and Shontelle, TC and Runner-Up in the Road March Contone The MC will be Mac Fingall. There will also be DJ Music to keep the beat flowing. Monday August 21st, 2006 from 9:00 am to 11:00pm This will be the day that we deem the “Hockey Liming Day”. Lime under the trees, tents or in the stand. Watch hockey while sipping on your Banks. The Banks Sound DJ will be spinning your favourite festival tunes from the day through the night. Tuesday August 22nd, 2006 from 7:30 pm The Talent Night is where the teams will showcase their other “original”
talents than hockey. The ability to sing like Frank Sinatra or Nat King
Cole is great. However, unless it is accompanied by an original stage
presentation, the team is likely to face the judges and audiences wrath.
The action begins with a happy hour from 5 - 7pm and 11-12 pm. In between
there will be Banks and other Drink Specials. There will also be a delectable
Bajan Buffet where reservations are recommended. As per the Ship Inn norm
“Party can dun!” Wednesday August 23rd, 2006 from 9:00 am to 11:00pm This is the continuation of the hockey liming day with a twist. There will be Karaoke from 7:00 pm for everyone. This is serious business as there will also be a team “Carry your own key” competition. This is where we can see which team has the best “Crooners”. Obviously the singing pipes will be cleared using Banks. Thursday August 24th, 2006 from 2 – 6 pm This is the day that we can relax and enjoy the beautiful beach and ocean. Water sport activities will be available for rent. We will also be playing some different and interesting beach games. Banks beer will be in plentiful supply as you enjoy the beach day activities Friday August 25th, 2006 This is the start of the “serious Hockey” days for the teams advancing through to the final rounds. For the other we can simply enjoy the beautiful game of hockey and enjoy copious amounts of Banks beer Saturday August 26th, 2006 No Hockey explanation needed. This is the Big Day. |
