BARBADOS - basketball
Under-20 Mini-League Basketball
Thursday 29, April-2004
Endeavour have only themselves to blame for the loss, as complacency and 20 missed free-throws during regulation time contributed to their demise. Harrison College, however, have much to be proud of as their tenacity was rewarded with an historic win.
Elton Wharton with 22 points, five steals; Stefan Forte 13 points, 18 rebounds; and Marc Inniss ten points led the Kolij attack. Jamai Puckerin, 20 points, 13 rebounds; Stefan Yard 12, and Rommell Turney ten points; eight rebounds were the key players for Endeavour.
In women’s action, Springer scored an amazing 34-32 come-from-behind victory over St Michael’s, thanks largely to the efforts of tournament MVP Sade Clarke. Clarke connected for 20 points including two three-pointers to cancel out the efforts of rival Ruth Holder (18).
In the night’s feature game, Endeavour turned the tables on Harrison College to capture the And 1 Cup in a most emphatic manner. After leading 28-16 at the half, Endeavour blew the game wide open by the midway point of the second half to emerge runaway winners 65-35.
Tournament MVP Greg Springer continued his impressive showing with 21 points and ten rebounds; while Stefan Yard contributed 13 points and five assists.
Dario McCollin 11 points and Davidson Francis ten points and 11 rebounds were the high men for Kolij.
