FirstCaribbean International Bank will honour ordinary citizens who are selflessly and silently at work, building communities across the Caribbean.

The bank launched the Barbados leg of the 2005 Unsung Heroes programme at the Savannah Hotel yesterday, which would be rolled out across the 16 territories in which it operates.

Managing Director and Country Head of Barbados, Oliver Jordan, said that FirstCaribbean recognised that it must do its part in nurturing Caribbean societies.

"We in the FirstCaribbean family are keenly aware that to nurture our societies, we must recognise and encourage the good people around us to continue with their good works and we are committed to honouring our own" Jordan said. < Read more>

Customers of FirstCaribbean International Bank will from today take a quantum step towards the cutting edge in technology in the management of their accounts. The Bank has launched its Internet and Telephone Banking services across all 15 of its countries, from The Bahamas in the north to Grenada in the south and from Barbados in the east to Belize in the west. FirstCaribbean customers, upon signing up for these services, will have unlimited access to their accounts once they can access the Internet or a touch-tone phone.
Apart from the flexibility that these new channels offer, FirstCaribbean Internet Banking and FirstCaribbean Telephone Banking offer safe, secure, user-friendly, dependable operations and are competitively priced. These new services give all FirstCaribbean customers the edge of being able to view their balances in any country across all types of accounts chequing, savings, loans and time deposits. They will also be able to view transactions for the last six months on FirstCaribbean chequing and savings accounts via the Internet or hear the last ten transactions via the telephone.

According to FirstCaribbean International Bank's CEO, Mr. Charles Pink, the bank is moving one step closer to fulfilling its promise of providing alternative banking solutions through our much awaited Internet and Telephone Banking channels. He explained that the service is being offered to the public after months of careful planning and preparation, testing and fine-tuning.

Specially trained Customer Service Agents will be on stand-by daily between the hours of 7 a.m. and 9 p.m. (Eastern Caribbean Time) to assist customers with queries via specially designated telephone numbers. Business customers will be offered multiple user access to facilitate efficient business processes and information flow.

FirstCaribbean will be able to offer customers even further convenience through the Internet and Telephone Banking channels when the opportunity to make bill payments and to conduct wire transfers is introduced in 2005.

FirstCaribbean is the only Bank in the region to offer both Internet and Telephone Banking to customers across its full regional network. This capability follows the Bank's US$50M investment in a single state-of-the-art technology platform as part of its integration plan.
