IT WAS an exciting weekend of golf in the annual Diamonds International/Digicel/ United Insurance Rockley Open Golf Tournament last weekend at Rockley, Christ Church.

By the end of competition on Sunday, three-times defending women's champion Jamie Hole had been dethroned by Helen Foster.

Foster not only took the title from Hole in the Championship Flight 1, but also won the new flight (17-28 group).

This year, for the first time, there were two flights for women as a result of the larger field of entries.

In the men's category, Judd Cozier successfully defended his title after a nail-biting finish. It came down to the last hole between himself and Gareth Thomas. Thomas was one-up coming into the last hole but Cozier birdied and Thomas had a bogey.

More than 100 players, including 22 women and ten juniors, divided into groups of fours, took part in the annual two-day tournament, which attracted the cream of the crop of Barbadian golfers. (CH)
