netball 2006 >> BARBADOS netball archive - Pine Hill Dairy Primary Schools’ Netball Competition 2004
Emotions ran high at the Netball Stadium yesterday morning. While the winners rejoiced, the losing teams were reduced to tears and teachers gave words which offered no comfort. Today will be a big day for the children. Those who did not make it to the finals also have a chance to win other prizes in the shooting competition. Compliments of the Nation

The school’s elongated name St Andrew’s/St Saviour’s/St Simon’s is a mouthful and should be fittingly renamed Conrad Hunte Primary. But their energetic netballers were also a handful for Eden Lodge in a keenly-contested final at the Netball Stadium yesterday which the young St Andrew lasses won 11-9 after leading 7-5 at half-time. Goal shooter Tyeshia Crick had the hot hands for her school, netting eight of her nine shots while goal attack, Keyla King scored three goals from seven attempts, much to the delight of their cheering principal, Gladwin Greaves, on the sidelines. At the other end, Eden Lodge’s stocky goal shoot Nathanya Carrington scored six goals from 11 shots and hard-working goal attack Sharita Chadderton netted all three shots she took. The slimly-built St Andrew’s/St Saviour’s/St Simon’s captain and goal defence Shaniece Clarke was a tower of strength in the defensive circle while trio Tamisha Marshall, Shakita Marshall and Shanice Rock played well in midcourt. Clarke, fittingly named most valuable player of the final, got excellent support from tall goalkeeper Vanessa Springer but she impressed with her positioning in the circle, blocking a number of shots and made some crucial interceptions. All the St Andrew players showed good ball skills, passing the ball in the correct manner, a credit to their physical education teacher Sonia Shepherd and successful NSC coach, Sonia Knight. In the third-place play-off, another school coached by Knight, Cuthbert Moore Primary easily defeated St John’s Primary 15-4 after leading 9-4 at half-time. Captain Makeda Boxill, who wore the goal attack bib, netted eight of 13 shots and goal shoot, Samantha Blanche scored seven goals from 12 attempts. For St John’s, who were scoreless in the second half, goal shoot Shantelle Simpson shot three from four and goal attack Chantal Husbands added the other goal from four tries. Kibibi Belle of Charles F. Broomes had a perfect ten from ten to win the individual shooting competition while Half Moon Fort won the team shooting competition.
