Entertainment in Caribbean is always
assured of an appreciative audience. There are regular reggae, soca,
dub, house and alternative venues on the music scene, as well as a
full calendar of jazz events. Classical and cultural performances
delight audiences and there are several annual theatre productions.
The diversity of entertainment ensures that there
is always something for everyone. Festivals range from flowers to
jazz, there are major horse racing events, plus International road
racing and rally racing, regattas, special events, concerts, fashion
shows and fairs.
International recording star Rihanna,
who was born and raised in Barbados, returned home to a rapturous
welcome to attend the inaugural Barbados
Music Awards.

Grammy-award winner Rihanna came home to a hero's
welcome. The singing sensation was met by Prime Minister David Thompson,
Government ministers and relatives when she stepped off a British
Airways flight around 3:50 p.m. There were hundreds of umbrellas
in the arrival area, a tribute to her chart-topping song "Umbrella",
as Barbadians converged en masse to celebrate the multiple award
winner.
After the official welcome, Rihanna was the guest
of honour at a cultural presentation featuring performances from
Dancin'' Africa, Charles F. Broome Primary and Combermere School.
