The Barbadian lasses survived a minor scare before romping to their third straight-sets victory at the Garfield Sobers Gymnasium on Tuesday night with a 25-20, 25-21, 25-13 triumph over Jamaica.

It was also a cake-walk for the men as they streamrolled minnows Guadeloupe 25-9, 25-18, 25-20 in a game which coach Ludger Niles gave all 12 of his players some court time. Read more

Barbados’ national volleyball teams keep making this a habit. Both the men and women’s squads are on the verge of greatness, having remained unbeaten so far in the 10th Caribbean Volleyball Championships being played at the Garfield Sobers Sports Complex. The women have won their first four games, and even though they were given a fight by the Bahamas on Wednesday night, came through 3-1 winners.

The men have been even more dominant, not losing a set in their three wins as they seek an unprecedented ninth regional title, which should be earned on Sunday.

The Barbados women continued their fine run of form when they defeated Trinidad and Tobago in three straight sets when the action continued in the 10th Caribbean Volleyball Championship at the Garfield Sobers Sports Complex on Monday.
The Barbados women won 25-19, 25-12, 26-24 to move their record to two wins in two games in their quest for top honours in the tournament.

In the first game which they played on Sunday the Bajan women defeated Guadeloupe also in three sets.

In other games played on Monday Jamaica women defeated Bahamas women’s team 25-18, 25-20, 26-24, while Trinidad men’s team went under to Jamaica men after winning the first set - 25-16, 24-26, 21-25, 19-25.

Martinique women’s team defeated Guadeloupe women three sets to one
