David Scott, an Irish sports psychologist who observed them for three days in St Lucia last month, joined the squad in practice at Kensington Park and will remain here for the second Digicel Test against Pakistan. Scott, a performance enhancement specialist who has worked with major sports teams in North America, has spent limited time with the West Indies, but has already made an impact, according to coach Bennett King. "We've really taken well to him. He's been a good person to bounce thoughts off and just talk in generally," King said. "He comes from a professional sporting group . . . highly professional – the amount of money they get paid is massive. Just seeing the way they handled themselves as compared to how cricketers handle themselves, there is a massive difference in the professionalism. It's certainly what we're striving towards." Scott observed the players for the majority of the 90-minute practice session, but towards the end, he had a discussion with pacer Tino Best. "If players want to go up and talk to him and we as coaching staff want to go up and talk to him, that's part of his role," King added. Compliments of the Nation
