jazz >>cool jazz 2007 Cool Jazz /Berklee alliance leads to scholarships for the region The 2008 Cool Jazz series 6 will see a continuation of the strategic alliance between its producer Notes to Note Inc. and the prestigious Berklee College of Music. Over the past four years Berklee college of Music has participated in the Cool Jazz series by sending faculty members to perform at one of the five events which make up the series and by granting summer performance scholarships to Barbadian students. The success of this venture in Barbados has led Berklee to strengthen ties with Notes to Note Inc. and include Barbados and St.Vincent as its hub in the region for the Berklee annual worldwide scholarship tour which will extend the scholarship focus to neighboring islands. The St. Vincent leg of the tour will take place between the 20th -22nd while the Barbados leg will be between 23rd -25th of February 2008. Berklee will be sending a four member team comprising of three teaching faculty and an officer from the Scholarship Department. Auditions will be held in St. Vincent on the on the 21st and in Barbados on the 23rd of February 2008 and will also include a briefing session and an admissions interview. While on the 25th will be the Berklee Night of Cool Jazz which will feature faculty members John Pierce on bass, Russ Hoffmann on piano & Jon Hazilla on drums at the Plantation Garden Theatre.
