Producer Chris Harper opened the Cool Jazz February
presentation by introducing the ever popular dance troupe Dancin’
Africa.
The juniors opened with one of several dance pieces from
the energetic and talented junior and senior groups and there was also
a stirring solo from Toni Thorne
The first of the ‘Voices in Jazz’ to perform was Betty
Griffith-Payne who proved conclusively that vocal power is not determined
by body size
The petite Ms Griffith-Payne entertained the large
audience with an eclectic mix that was well received
The band was excellent and included Ricky Aimey on
bass and Ian Alleyne on guitar
