CARIBBEAN cricket - 'Carriacou Easter Junior Cricket Festival'

The Carriacou United Cricket Board is pleased to announce the first 'Carriacou Easter Junior Cricket Festival'

The Carriacou United Cricket Board is pleased to announce the success of the first 'Carriacou Easter Junior Cricket Festival'. Carriacou hosted to a selection of teams from throughout the Caribbean and the UK. The Board are confident that this will become an annual event. This event could be duplicated in either Barbados or St Lucia.

Day 1
Easter Saturday

	10:30hrs Arrival at Hillsborough dock by Ferry from Grenada, or
17:00 Arrival at Carriacou airport on TIA from Barbados. Meet and Greet, travel to accommodation.
	19:00hrs Briefing at Sea Waves Conference Room. A warm welcome to Carriacou and a tour synopsis. Our representatives are on hand, at all times, to offer assistance.

Day 2
Easter Sunday

9:00 The opportunity to attend Church to celebrate Easter Sunday.

Free day to relax and enjoy the beaches around your hotel.

Free day to relax and enjoy the beauty of Carriacou.

19:00 Opening ceremony at Silver Beach Hotel.

The Chairman of the Cricket Board will give a welcoming speech.

An address will be given by the Tourist Development Officer and the Parlimentary Representative of Carriacou and Petite Martinique will declare the tournament open.

Cariacou Big Drum Refreshments and dinner will be provided.

Local cultural performances by the Carriacou Big Drum dancers and other local artists will be the highlight of the evening.

Easter Monday
10:00hrs Pick up and transfer to cricket ground

11:00hrs First round match. All teams will be playing 40 overs per side

13:45 Lunch provided after first cut off time

14:15 Game continues

Tuesday

10:00hrs Pick up and transfer to cricket ground

11:00hrs Second round match. All teams will be playing 40 overs per side

13:45 Lunch provided after first cut off time

Johns Resort

Close of play, transport back to your accommodation. John's Unique Resort, another location choice, situated on the outskirts of Hillsborough, two minutes walk from the beach. The elegantly decorated rooms and self contained apartments have private balconies, AC, fans, bathrooms with hot and cold water, cable TV and telephone. The restaurant offers the best in local and international cuisine and the bar is well stocked with Caribbean drinks.

Day 5
Wednesday

10:00hrs Pick up and transfer to cricket ground

11:00hrs Third round match. All teams will be playing 40 overs per side

13:45 Lunch provided after first cut off time

14:15 Game continues

Transport back to your hotel, villa or apartment.

20:00 Party night at the Community Centre, music provided by live band the 'Country Boys' backed up by a local DJ.

Day 6
Thursday

Fun in the sun day!

	9:00 A motorboat ride to White Island for swimming and snorkelling followed by a
trip over to Sandy Island. Lunch can be arranged at EC15 a head with complimentary fruit punch.

Watersports can be arranged for an additional charge including, water taxi and sailboat rides or kayaking over to the Oyster Beds.

Day 7
Friday

10:00hrs Pick up and transfer to cricket ground

11:00hrs Fourth round match. All teams will be playing 40 overs per side

13:45 Lunch provided after first cut off time

14:15 Game continues

Transport back to your accommodation.
Silver Beach Resort is an elegant but informal resort on the beach. With a choice of modern rooms with ocean views, or fully equipped self-catering cottages.

Day 8
Saturday

10:00hrs Pick up and transfer to cricket ground

11:00hrs Four teams will be playing in the semi finals of the 'Carriacou Easter Junior Cricket Festival'

13:45 Lunch provided after first cut off time

14:15 Game continues

Transport back to your hotel.

Day 9
Sunday Finals

10:00hrs Pick up and transfer to the Hillsborough cricket ground

11:00hrs The Finals

13:45 Lunch provided for the finalists after first cut off time
(Lunch for all other team members will be on sale for EC $10.00)
14:15 Game continues

At the end of the match there will be a closing ceremony and presentation of prizes by an official from the cricket board.

Day 10
Monday

Free day for shopping and independent travel.

Day 11
Tuesday

6:00hrs Transfer to port to catch morning ferry back to Grenada.

10:00hrs Transfer to airport to catch TIA back to Barbados.

Introducing the and exciting new 'Carriacou Cricket Carnival' The Carriacou United Cricket Board are working with Caribzones Barbados Ltd on creating an unique 'Caribbean Educational Sports Tourism' package.

This package will include cricket fixtures complemented by historical lectures, talks from local experts on culture, forklore, poetry, art and music plus a trip to the museum and a hands-on 'Big Drum' musical experience.

A variety of watersports activities are planned. Focusing on sailing and diving. There is a strong emphasis on marine conservation in Carriacou and Caribzones has worked closely with the Carriacou Environmental Committee obtaining information on their beautiful island.

It is the Committee's desire that youth visiting the island are educated about the need to sustain Carriacou's pristine environment through good marine, forestry and social practices and projects.

Ecotourism activities will include hiking, birdwatching and even whale and dolphin watching.

Accommodation and entertainment will focus around Tyrell Bay and plans include a 'meet the locals' street party with live music and an excellent 'cook up' to include Carriacou Juk Fish and other local delicacies.

This is a totally new concept in promoting Caribbean Junior Cricket and we are confident that dual island destinations such as Barbados/Carriacou or Grenada/Carriacou will add excitement and interest to the package.
