BARBADOS - polo - Digicel Cup 2006

CHARITY was indeed the winner following the hosting of two exciting polo matches at Waterhall ground, St. James, recently.
Teams participating in the matches were Harbour Lights who came up against Porsche, while in a highgoal game to decide the Digicel Cup Terra played the Digicel team.

Harbour Lights team of Harry Manning, Neil Dickson, Richard Deane and Malcolm Borwick won the opening match 7 goals - 61D2 from the Porsche team of Bruce Bayley, Phillip Tempro, Gaston Moore and Wayne Archer.

Terra team led by Sir Charles Williams and including Fortunato Gomez-Romero, Fredrico Uribe and Jamie Dickson won the 16-goal match against Digicel to claim the Digicel Cup.

Terra clinched victory 9 - 7 over the Teddy Williams led Digicel team, which also included Danny Atwell, Manuel Crespo and Phillip Tempro.

Harbour Lights sponsored the after-game party during which teams shorts were auction to raise funds for the Challenor Home and the Ark Animal Welfare.

Polo helps charites

Without hesitation, they seized the opportunity to help and together with Terra Caribbean, who sponsored the recent polo clash between Barbados and South Africa from January 15 to 22, they were able to donate $9 000 to the "Because of Jenna" Trust this week.

This money was raised from a charity raffle and an auction of the players' team shirts on the final day of the tournament.< Read more >
