Drive through the capital Roseau and along the Caribbean
coast then head inland up the Imperial Road, through the Antrim Valley,
to the Emerald
Pool, one of the island's most beautiful waterfalls in the rainforest
of the Morne Trois Piton National Park.
Take a rowboat trip up the famous
Indian River,
so called after the Carib Indians who lived up river and regularly
used it as a route to the sea. The rowboats go to an area where
the river narrows and visitors can take a walk or go to the bush
bar for a drink.
The
Boiling Lake of Dominica is said to be the largest of its kind
in the world. It is about 200 feet in diameter and is inside a crater;
the lake is fed by two freshwater streams.
The water is heated by magma below the surface, which causes it to
boil constantly at the centre where it is over 100 degrees Celsius.
Visit and explore the Boeri
Lake approximately an hour away. This time the hike is on a mountain
trail, which passes through lush vegetation and crosses mountain streams
from which you can drink.
Discover the Ti
Tou Gorge one of the most unique and fascinating places on the
island, if n. ot in the whole Caribbean. The Ti Tou Gorge is like
a crevice in a mountain with a waterfall inside We swim up between
the rocks to the waterfall.
The Syndicate Rainforest
is located at the foothills of Morne Diablotin, the island's highest mountain.
The Syndicate Rainforest is one of the finest Oceanic Rainforests in the
island and maybe the world.
Head inland up the Imperial Road, through the Antrim Valley, to the Spanny
Falls. These are two really great waterfalls in the forested interior.
The walk starts in agricultural lands and then descends into a river course
where the first waterfall is located.
