Take the coastal road where the majestic and rugged mountains border the sea. We visit picturesque villages, see and feel the throb of Dominican lifestyle. This tour includes the Cabrits National Park, ( the Indian River boat trip can be arranged while in Portsmouth for an additional US 10.00 per person) the East Atlantic Coast, the Carib Indian Village and Emerald Pool.

This tour was designed for persons who are not into hiking and want to see a lot of the island in one day.

We drive along the West Coast to Portsmouth the island's second largest town, where we take a rowboat trip up the famous Indian River, so called after the Carib Indians who lived up river and regularly used it as a route to the sea. The verdant vegetation along the banks of the river is dominated by the intricately buttressed Mang tree {Pterocarpus Officinalis}. Watch out for herons, kingfishers and iguanas. The rowboats go to an area where the river narrows and visitors can take a walk. or go to the bush bar for a drink.


The river trip takes 1 - 1 1/2 hours

Next we head into the interior to visit the Milton Falls. A 30 minute walk through banana fields and back and forth across the river, brings us to one of Dominica's most beautiful and spectacular waterfalls, nestling under the canopy of the rainforest. A dip in the pool at the base of the fall is a wonderful experience.

Next we drive to the Syndicate rainforest, located at the foothills of Morne Diablotin the highest mountain on the island. This is the area where you are likely to see the island's two endangered parrots the Sisserou and the Jacquot. The Syndicate rainforest has well maintained trails which pass through some of Dominica's most accessible oceanic rainforest. The forest is abundant with trees like the giant Gommier (Dacryodes Excelsa), the incredibly buttressed chataignier(Sloanea Carabea) and numerous epiphytes and stranglers.



Our walk through the forest is accompanied by fascinating facts about the trees as we head to the best look out points for a glimpse of the parrots. This is an educational adventure tour combining information on agriculture, vegetation, rainforest and wildlife

Day one

Arrival at Melville Hall, welcomed at the airport by our representative. Depart for tour along the eastern Atlantic coast to Portsmouth, take a row boat trip up the exotic Indian River.

After the Indian River trip continue along the west coast to Roseau the capital of Dominica. Check into the Fort Young Hotel.

Day two

Whale and Dolphin photo safari on board our 45' catamaran. There are no guarantees that we will see whales but we have a 90% success rate as there are twenty two different types of Cetacean in these waters. After an exhilarating morning whale and dolphin watching, the afternoon is spent on one of the following tours .
