BARBADOS - music -La Noche Caliente – February 10th 2006


The all-woman band Canela brought a touch of Havana to Barbados when the Savannah Hotel was host to La Noche Caliente

Canela is a nine-member family band whose infectious Latin rhythms and obvious pleasure in performing is a joy to watch


 


 Bandleader Jesus Fuentes added a male presence to the stage along with some
excellent and energetic sax
Guest trumpeter Basilio Marquez of the renowned Cuban jazz band Irakere demonstrated why he is so highly rated
Lead vocalists Odalys Lazarte and Ademilis Hernandez powered their way through a set that included all the crowd pleasers

Canela’s Yaila Karel, seen here with Lietis Ramos on keyboard, added a hot flute to the already spicy mix
Vocalist Ademilis Hernandez found many new fans in Barbados at the Savannah Hotel, as did bass player Giselda Fuentes
The Canela line-up also includes Regla Christina Poey on Piano, Zoe Fuentes on Timbales, Ivett Gonzales on Congas and Marlen Fuentes on Drums.
