BARBADOS - National Cultural Foundation

Barbados Trade Fair & Arts Symposium

Article Posted: May 14, 2004

Marketing and promoting an entertainment product is almost as important as the product itself; and who better to give tips on this topic than Christopher G Harper - Founder and Director of the entertainment management company ‘Notes To Note’. He will be one of the presenters in the National Cultural Foundation’s Barbados Arts Trade Fair & Symposium, slated for May 29th to June 01st at the Sherbourne Conference Centre.

The Symposium is part of a larger amalgamation of the Barbados Manufacturers’ Association annual expo and the Music Symposium and Trade Fair which until recently were aspects of the Congaline Festival. Christopher will conduct the session on ‘Marketing and Promoting Your Product’ on Monday, May 31st at 5:30 p.m.

This versatile musician also plays the saxophone and trombone professionally and currently performs with the Plantation Band and X-Ta-C. This former member of the Royal Barbados Police Band studied at the prestigious Berklee College of Music where he was awarded a scholarship during his course. While in Boston, Christopher received a number of awards from the Massachusetts State Senate and the Mayor of Boston for outstanding academic performance. Christopher has lent his wealth of musical talent to groups such as: Splashband, The Party Monarch Band, The Festival Band and The Song Festival Band, and has toured with soca band Krosfyah. He has also performed at the Grenada Jazz Festival and the Barbados Jazz Festival on two occasions with groups opening for world famous saxophonists Najee and Kenny G.

Christopher has sharpened his business and marketing skills with appropriate courses at the Barbados Institute for Management and Productivity and is currently pursing a post graduate diploma in Arts & Cultural Enterprise Management at the University of the West Indies St. Augustine campus in Trinidad & Tobago.

The Arts Symposium runs from May 29th to June 1st. All sessions are in the afternoon and are held in the Sugar Mill Room of the Sherbourne Conference centre.
