BARBADOS - National Cultural Foundation Caribbean Publishers' Network Article Posted: Jun 16, 2004 “The National Cultural Foundation (NCF) intends to play a pivotal role in the nurturing of Barbados' Publishing Industry.” This statement, coming from the Cultural Officer for Literary Arts - Katy Gash, precedes a general exploratory meeting to be held on Monday June 21st in the Conference Room of the Frank Collymore Hall. The focus of the agenda will be the establishment of a local arm of the Caribbean Publishers' Network (CAPNET) organisation. "Coming out of that workshop many of the participants expressed an interest in starting a CAPNET B'dos arm, as CAPNET is making huge forward strides for Caribbean writers in general", noted Gash. CAPNET has coordinated regional representation at the world's largest book fairs - including those held in Munich, Germany as well as the Zimbabwe International Book Fair. A Catalogue has also been published with the works of local publishers, and an online catalogue for CAPNET members is also in the works. The National Cultural Foundation invites all interested persons to be
a part of the meeting on Monday June 21st at 5:30pm at the Frank Collymore
Hall. |
