Crop Over Opening Gala 2003
Bigger and Better 2003 BNB Crop Over Opening Gala
This year’s opening gala will see the Queen’s Park Bandstand becoming a focal point for a number of cultural demonstrations including stick-licking and pottery.
Says the Festival and Event Planner: “We are celebrating 30 years of Crop Over and we must be able to pass on to the younger people, we know a lot of things are coming into culture, we must still see some kind of coming together of the old and the .” Ms. Pestaina further opines, “This is why Bajan Culture Village still is very important to our history as a people, and should be passed onto the younger generation so as to give them an idea of Crop Over of old.”
This year’s gala will first start with a processional march from the General Post Office on Cheapside to Queen’s Park, following which there will be the ceremonial delivery and blessing of the canes by Archbishop, Granville Williams of the Spiritual Baptist Church and also a packed entertainment package featuring the 2002 Party and Road March Monarch, Lil’ Rick, 2002 Calypso Monarch Red Plastic Bag, Gabby and Alison Hinds, amongst others.
