Another popular inter Caribbean event is the Sandy Lane Gold Cup

	Only one overseas horse will be participating in the 25th running of the Sandy Lane Barbados Gold Cup when it runs off at the Garrison next Saturday. Trinidad and Tobago's Miss Lover Lover was the only overseas horse entered for the region's most prestigious horse race when entries closed.
This is 18 years since Trinidad and Tobago last won the big race, and that was with Roland Khan's Call To Account back in 1988. That country has made a number of raids on the Gold Cup since, but to no avail. It is hoping that in Miss Lover Lover all that will change for the big race.
	Miss Lover Lover is an American-bred six-year-old mare classified A1. She will be carrying 126 pounds in the 1800 metres event. Three trainers will account for six of the 11 horses entered. Clayton Greenidge, who won the race last year with Feet On Flames, will have that horse defending the crown and in addition to Feet On Flames he will also be represented by Birdie Point and Atul.
Robert Peirce will be represented by new hot import Zarad, Sharp Impact and Peace Angel. Atul, a three-year-old colt and down to carry the light impost of 109 pounds, is owned by Guyana's Yusuf Mongroo, who also owned Surya Bhagwan which finished third in the Gold Cup also as a three-year-old a few years back.
