Few experiences can compare to the excitement you feel
when confronted by these magnificent mammals... Learn more about the endangered whales visit the American Cetacean Society's website. ACS is the oldest whale conservation group in the world. Founded in 1967, it is a nonprofit, volunteer membership organization with regional US chapters and members in 41 countries. The National Headquarters are in San Pedro, California. ACS works to protect whales, dolphins, porpoises, and their habitats through education, conservation and research. Permission requsted to give global exposure to this urgent cause, information taken from http://www.acsonline.org/
Urgent! After months of quiet, the leader of the U.S. Congressional committee which has oversight of the Marine Mammal Protection Act, Richard Pombo (R-CA) is attempting to bring a bill to the House floor which contains some very negative provisions for marine mammal protection. Please see the Action Alert for background and contact your Congressional Representatives to register your serious concerns about scaling back protections for whales, dolphins, porpoises and other marine mammals. Don't let current world affairs get used as an excuse to unnecessarily remove hard-fought legal protections previously enacted.
Learn more about these wonderful creatures visit the Wild Dolphin Project's website. Founded by Dr. Denise Herzing in 1985, the Wild Dolphin
Project has been studying the life history and communication system of
a resident group of free-ranging Atlantic spotted dolphins (Stenella frontalis)
in the Bahamas
